About
How we check our content
Electricians need advice they can trust. This is how every SparkieHelp guide is made.
Where do our facts come from?
We research each guide fresh and link to the sources we used, with the date we checked them. We prefer primary sources:
- The IET (publisher of BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations)
- The Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
- GOV.UK, including the Building Regulations and Part P
- Competent person schemes such as NICEIC and NAPIT
- City & Guilds and the JIB for training and qualifications
If we can't confirm a regulation number or a figure from a source, we say so rather than guess.
Who checks the guides?
We use AI to help research and draft. Every guide with technical content is then checked by a qualified electrician before it goes live.
What do the dates mean?
Published is when a guide first went live. Last checked is when we last reviewed it against its sources. We only change it after a real review.
Is this a substitute for the regulations?
No. Our guides explain and summarise. Always work to BS 7671, the manufacturer's instructions and your own competence, and safely isolate and prove dead before you work.
Found a mistake?
Tell us at john@sparkiehelp.uk. We'll check it, fix it and update the "last checked" date.
